Job description

  • The successful candidate will be part of an R&D Team specialized in the Technology development of Power transformers.
  • Drives for product cost-out activities through appropriate design actions on Transformers.
  • Possessing knowledge of Indian and International Standards & Codes - IEC, IEEE, BIS, DIN, ISO for electrical design-related aspects of power transformers and shunt reactors.
  • Developing new ideas for transformer designs based on technology requirements.
  • Works on standardizing schematics and supports R&D / manufacturing engineering / VAVE (Value Added/Value Engineering) projects,
  • Running verifications using simulation tools (Dielectric / Electromagnetic / Thermal) to simulate different behaviors of the power transformers
  • Document all activities, data, and information in line with procedures

Your background

  • Master Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Up to 6 years of experience working in Transformer Design, testing, assembly, and/or manufacturing.
  • Sound analytical skills, including simulation tools ((dielectric, magnetic, and/or thermal)) and preferably have experience in designing and conducting experiments.
  • Willingness to learn and try new things and collaborate with others to achieve great results
  • Experience in research and development activities would be also a plus.
  • Responsible team player with a structured and result-oriented work approach.
  • Overall understanding and domain expertise in power transformers is a plus
  • Knowledge of Computer Aided Design, 3D Modeling, CREO application is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills and team spirit
  • Willingness to travel

Job Responsibilities

  • Evaluate customer specifications and bid document and define design parameters for the design of the electrical components
  • Use optimization techniques and design electrical components to minimize total evaluated price
  • Ensure that the designs meet American National Standards Institute (ANSI), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), and Department of Energy (DOE) standards
  • Prepare sales quotations for by selecting the best designs and making sure all the accessories meet customer specifications
  • Update existing designs to optimize for minimum total evaluated price. - Support sales engineering and senior design engineers for resolving front end design related issues - Create bill of material and update the MRP system
  • Standardize products to reduce SKUs and support supply chain in cost reduction projects - Create and update wiring diagrams in AutoCAD - Work with quality engineering to generate and maintain technical documentation.
  • Work on corrective and preventive actions for shop issues

Knowledge/Skills Required

  • B.E. or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering required
  • 0 to 2 years experience in electrical/power design is preferred
  • Sound knowledge of electrical design optimization process
  • Proficient in AutoCAD for preparing electrical schematics and wiring diagram
  • Experience in working with MS office and ERP systems and quality management system
  • Motivated and self directed individual
